☀ The Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry has launched an online portal ‘India Skills Online‘ under the ‘Skill India’ campaign. This website will provide free courses to aspirants registered for skill training schemes. It will also offer courses on soft skills, languages, digital literacy, orientation to regional cultures and entrepreneurship modules.
☀ In order to ensure a garbage-free Puducherry, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said that the government will form ‘Swachh Bal Senas‘ to make children the watchdogs of cleanliness and prevent elders from littering. Under this, children will be given yellow coloured whistles, which they will blow whenever they see elder throwing garbage. The beat constables in respective areas will help children carry out this work..
☀ The country’s first of its kind industrial park, exclusively for women entrepreneurs has been launched by Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat. It is located in Uttarakhand’s Sitarganj district.
☀ India’s first e-court has been opened at Hyderabad High Court, the common high court for the states of Telangana & Andhra Pradesh. The Supreme Court Justice, Madan B Lokur has inaugurated the first ever e-Court at the High Court premises.
- E-Courts (paperless courts) will ensure easy and better access to justice for public and ensure speedy justice for the litigants.
☀ The Central Board of Excise and Customs announced that it will adopt a paperless and integrated customs system by 2017, for fast-tracking consignment clearances. This will also bring down the document processing time to below 10 seconds as against over 10 minutes presently.
☀ Three indigenously-developed 155 mm ‘Dhanush’ artillery guns have been handed over to the Indian Army for user trial by the Jabalpur-based Gun Carriage Factory. The Dhanush, a howitzer gun with a strike range of 38 km, has been developed using the design documents of the Bofors gun deal.
☀ The newly elected Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu (37) is presently the youngest chief minister in the country. While Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal (88), is currently the oldest Chief Minister in the country. When Badal assumed office in 1970 for the first time, he was the youngest ever CM of Punjab, a record which he still holds.
- Note that : India’s youngest ever chief minister was Hasan Farook, who became the CM of Puducherry at the age of 29 in 1967.
