☀ India is set to host the United Nation Peacekeeping Course for African Partners-1, (UNCAP – 1) from 25th July to 12th August 2016.
☀ In order to prevent a clique from dominating the official cultural space, the Culture Ministry has decided to rate Indian artists and writers, on the basis of which they will be sent to represent India. As a pilot project, the ministry has graded 185 artists into three categories. These categories are:
- O – (Outstanding),
- P – (Promising),
- W – (Waiting)
☀ The Union Railway Ministry has launched a project to install Solar Panels in all Railway Buildings in order to reduce expenditure on electricity. As part of the project, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has laid the foundation stone of one Megawatt (MW) solar power plant at Amritsar Railway station in Punjab.
☀ BJP leader Navjot Singh Siddhu has resigned from Rajya Sabha. Siddhu’s resignation comes amid speculation that the cricketer turned politician may join Aam Aadmi Party in view of upcoming assembly elections in Punjab.

☀ SpaceX successfully landed its two-stage Falcon 9 rocket. This landing marks the second time SpaceX recovered a rocket on land and their fifth recovered first stage in all. A Dragon capsule was loaded on the top of the Falcon 9 rocket carrying 2,267 kg of supplies for six crew members working at the International Space Station.

☀ The 4th tranche of the Sovereign Gold Bonds scheme opened for subscription. These bonds can be purchased from the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange, besides all Bank branches, select Post Offices and the Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited.
☀ RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan announced that the Unified Payment Interface will be operational by this month-end. Using the UPI, customers will access virtual accounts to do transactions generated from a bank app.
☀ Coal India Limited, CIL has prepared a road map to achieve a coal production level of one billion tonnes by the year 2019-20. The company has already identified mines and projects to produce 908 million tonnes and further plans to augments production up to 1000 million tonnes are being developed.
☀ Reserve Bank of India Governor, Dr Raghuram Rajan has emphasized the need for expanding banking services to achieve financial inclusion in the country while addressing a Conference on ‘Transforming Rural India through Financial Inclusion’, in Hyderabad. He said the schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana has helped to expand banking services.
☀ ICICI Prudential Life Insurance has filed for an initial public offering(IPO) of shares, this will become India’s first insurance sector IPO.
