☀ In a major move, the Centre has agreed to permit private persons seek sanction for prosecution of State and central IAS officers under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Under the presently existing rules, requests for sanction for prosecution of All India Services Officers (IAS/IPS/IFS etc) can be initiated by the investigative agencies only.
☀ The Joint Committee on the contentious Land Bill or the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Amendment) Bill, 2015 has been given a 7th extension and a new chairman -Lok Sabha member Ganesh Singh. This keeps the Bill alive, nearly a year after the Prime Minister withdrew the ordinance and allowed the States to enact their own laws on land acquisition.
☀The Indian Navy has begun a full-fledged search and rescue mission to locate the An-32 aircraft en route Port Blair from Chennai which has been reported missing since 9 a.m. on Friday.
☀ In a move to check nepotism and corruption, the central government has clarified that civil servants shall not use their position to grant any benefit to their immediate family or any other person related to any of them by blood or marriage. This order by the department of personnel and training (DoPT), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cames after doubts were raised over the definition of “members of family” under the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964.
☀ Tea Board of India has introduced an accident insurance scheme for workers in small tea gardens at an annual premium of Rs.14.
- This scheme provides compensation to small tea farmers between 18 and 70 years.
- The insurance cover of Rs.2 lakh is provided.
- Note that: Tea Board is a statutory body of the Central Government under the Ministry of Commerce.
- It deals with assignment of certification numbers to exports of certain tea merchants.
- This certification is intended to ensure the teas’ origin.
☀ Gujarat High Court has reversed a trial court verdict of acquittal in a post-Godhra riots case. The HC has held 10 of the 27 accused guilty of murder of two people in Mehsana district in a 2002.
☀ The Odisha government has constituted a judicial commission to study the functioning of the Puri Jagannath Temple, which has in recent weeks witnessed major controversies over mismanagement of rituals by unruly servitors.
The National Flag of India was adopted in its present form by Constituent Assembly on 22nd July 1947. The national flag contains three equal strips of saffron, white and green, with a navy blue chakra having 24 spokes.

- Note that: KickAss Torrent distributes films, video games, television programs, music and other electronic media, is estimated to be the 69th most frequently visited website on the Internet.
☀ World Meteorological Organization (WMO) report says that 2016 is set to be hottest year in history, while CO2 levels are on rise.
- Month of June marked the 14th straight month of record heat for landmass and oceans.
- How much heat? The average temperature in the first six months of 2016 was 1.3°Celsius (2.4°Fahrenheit) warmer than the pre-industrial era in the late 19th Century, according to Nasa.
- Note that: Under Paris Agreement, nearly 200 governments have agreed to limit global warming to “well below” 2°C (3.6°F) above pre-industrial times, while “pursuing efforts” for a ceiling of just 1.5°C.

- right to grievance redress & compensation.
☀ Income Tax Department will issue 7 lakh letters seeking information regarding high value non PAN transactions. Various types of high-value transactions are being reported to the Income Tax Department under the Annual Information Returns. These include reporting of cash deposits of Rs 10 lakh or more in a savings bank account, and sale or purchase of immovable property valued over Rs 30 lakh.
☀ The European Central Bank has kept interest rates unchanged but has left room for fiscal stimulus, highlighting “great”uncertainity and abundant risks to the economic outlook in post-Brexit EU.
