☀ Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with President of Swiss Confederation, Johann Schneider Ammann in Geneva. The discussions are expected to focus on bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
☀ The Gujarat government has announced its first ever IT and Electronics Start-up Policy. The policy has special focus on encouraging new ventures by providing them various incentives and subsidies.
- 50 new incubators will be set up which will benefit 2,000 IT start-ups in next five years.
- The project aims to attract an investment of 7,000 crore rupees.
- Under the policy, Gujarat will provide 50 per cent capital investment assistance, in the limit of 50 lakh rupees, for setting up an incubator.
- As per the policy, the incubators will be entitled to get 5 lakh rupees each year as mentoring assistance and the state government will also give 1 crore rupee as assistance for the procurement of software to these incubators.
- For the success of the new policy, government will offer partnerships to start-ups under its various e-governance projects.
- Start-ups will get upto 25 per cent of venture capital fund as financial aid apart from 100 per cent stamp duty and registration fee waiver.
- These benefits will continue for next seven years.
☀Kerala government has decided to make the state’s 590 km-long coastline “plastic and garbage free” by the end of this month. Plastic and solid waste will be collected separately now and handed over to the Clean Kerala Company. The company plans to crush the plastic and use it for road tarring.
☀ Telangana government has signed an MoU with California (US) for cooperation in fields of business innovation, alternative energy, and education.

- Djokovic also becomes only the 8th man in history to have won all four of the sport’s major singles prizes.
☀ India’s first Mr Universe, Manohar Aich has passed away at age of 104 years in Kolkata. Aich, who turned 104 on March 17, was once a household name in Bengal after becoming India’s first Mr Universe in 1952. He was just four feet and 11 inches, but took up bodybuilding and made this his passion during his stint at the Royal Air Force under British colonial rulers.
