☀  Under the Clean UP, Green UP‘ initiative, the Uttar Pradesh government will plant a record five crore saplings across the state on 11th July 2016. Of these, 6.7 lakh saplings will be planted in Agra alone. Note that: Last year, UP had entered the Guinness Book of World Records for planting 10 lakh saplings within a span of eight hours.

☀ Professors of six these IITsBombay, Madras, Delhi, Kharagpur, Kanpur, and Guwahati– will give video lectures to engineering aspirants via four DD DTH channels.

  • The students will be able to watch these channels for free of charge through Doordarshan’s Free Dish DTH and will only need to get a set-top box.
  • This service will be launched by PM Narendra Modi on 15th of August 2016.

☀ Maharashtra government has inducted 10 ministers into the State Council have promoted existing minister to the Cabinet rank. Six of them belonged to the ruling BJP, two to ally Shiv Sena, and one each to the Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana and the Rashtriya Samaj Paksha. 

☀ Current Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council and NCP leader, Ramraje NaikNimbalkar has been re-elected unopposed as the Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council.

☀ Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the BRICS‬ Heads of Drug Control Agencies Working Group Meeting, in New Delhi stressing on international cooperation to curb and stop the menace of drugs.

  • This meeting has been organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) of India.

☀ Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to meet all Chief Ministers of the country on July 16 at the 11th meeting of the Inter-State Council (ISC) in Delhi. Issues such as inter-state relations, internal security, school education, Aadhaar card, and economic planning will be discussed in this meeting.

☀ India has set up an apparel training centre in Kaduna, Nigeria to support textiles industry of the West African country.

  • The training centre is established under the Cotton Technical Assistance Programme for Africa which is being implemented by the Department of Commerce, Government of India.
