☀AIADMK Supremo Ms. J. Jayalalithaa has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Governor Dr.K.Rosaiah administered the oath of office to her.

☀ ISRO has successfully launched its maiden indigenous winged Reusable Launch Vehicle, RLV from Sriharikota. The Re-Usable Launch Vehicle – Technology Demonstrator, RLV-TD, is meant for putting satellites into orbit around earth and then re-enter atmosphere. The cost of this project is 95 crore rupees. The mission, known as the hypersonic flight experiment, lasted about 10 minutes.

  • Importance of Reusable Launch vehicle : It will bring down the cost of making infrastructure in space.


☀ Kiren Bedi has been appointd Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.  She was country’s first IPS officer and BJP’s chief minterial candidate in Delhi Assembly polls in 2015. This appointment comes after the Congress-DMK alliance won 17 seats in the 30 member Puducherry assembly.

☀ The details of first short-term procurement through the Discovery of Efficient Electricity Price (DEEP) e-bidding portal have been unveiled.

  • It has resulted in substantial savings as the prices discovered through e-bidding are significantly lower than the prices at which power was procured during the similar period in the last year.
  • Therefore, it has resulted in substantive savings for states such as Uttarakhand, Kerala, Bihar.
  • According to a statement issued by the Power Ministry, “the scope of this portal shall be further expanded soon to cover medium-term and long-term procurement of power.”

☀ The government has cleared 69 projects with investment of Rs. 17112 crore out of 160 proposals under the MSIPS (Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme) for electronics manufacturing.

  • This scheme provides financial incentives to offset diability and attract investment in electronics hardware by providing subsidy for SEZ and non SEZ investments.
  • It was launched to push domestic manufacturing of electronic products like circuit boards, LCD screens, semiconductor ATMP, consumer appliances, etc.
  • This will check forex outflows and also reduce dependence on imports.
  • It will also push employment generation.
