>> The Border Security Force (BSF) will unveil a 350-feet-high national flag, the tallest in the country, near the Attari-Wagah border by January 2017. It will be visible from both Lahore as well as Amritsar. The current highest flag is a 293-feet-high mast in Jharkhand’s Ranchi.

>> The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a consultation paper on peer-to-peer (P2P) lending and proposed to define them as non-banking finance companies (NBFCs).
- P2P lending is a form of crowd funding.
- An online platform that matches lenders with borrowers in order to provide unsecured loans.
- The borrower can be an individual or a business requiring a loan.
- A fee is then paid to the platform by both the lender and the borrower.
>> The finance ministry has increase interest rate on provident fund deposits back to 8.8 per cent from the 8.7 per cent decided by it earlier after protests.
>> Top IT firm Infosys has launched an artificial intelligence (AI) platform called “Mana”. The platform will help clients drive automation for repetitive tasks and lower the cost of maintenance.
>> Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has termed the 5/20 rule, which regulates Indian carriers flying abroad as “anarchic”.
- According to the ‘5/20 rule,’ all airlines in India need 5 years of domestic flying experience
- And at least 20 aircrafts in its fleet in order to fly abroad.
- The rule has been a subject of heated debate between domestic airline operators.
>> State of Maharashtra has contributed the highest (₹2.77 lakh crore) to the total national Direct tax collection among India’s states and union territories. It was followed by Delhi and Karnataka, with direct tax collections of ₹91,248 crore and ₹60,595 crore respectively.
